Biography


Mr. Abell concentrates his practice in the area of local government, healthcare, estate administration and probate, and labor and employment law.

Mr. Abell has served as Corporation Counsel to the City of Metropolis, Illinois for fourteen years. He also served as General Counsel to Massac Memorial Hospital for 23 years.

In local government as well as labor and employment law his clients include the City of Metropolis, Illinois, the City of Brookport, Illinois, the City of Cairo, Illinois, the Massac County Hospital District, Shawnee Development Council, Inc., and the Alexander County Housing Authority.

Mr. Abell received his law degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1984. His undergraduate degree in business administration-management is from the University of Illinois (1981).

Mr. Abell serves on the board of directors of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency, headquartered in Springfield, Illinois and is a past Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Board. He is currently serving his tenth year on the Agency's Executive Board.
